Scientists at the International Space Station have released a picture of the Three Gorges dam. The picture highlights, not only the size of the dam itself, but the massive effect it is having on area's geography and ecosystem.

The reservoir has already displaced millions of citizens and flooded hundreds of towns. Now, many scientists warn that the reservoir may cause landslides, dwindling fish populations and a continual destruction of the area's natural beauty.

To make matters worse, the potential profits from selling the dam's electricity have been handed over to a private company, Yangtze Power, while the costs continue to be carried by taxpayers.
